Solar Roof Safety Installation for a College in Molville

KSE was appointed to deliver a comprehensive roof safety solution to support the installation and ongoing maintenance of a large-scale solar PV system. The project required multiple horizontal lifeline systems, designated walkway routes and safe roof access to ensure contractors could work safely at height throughout the installation and for future maintenance.

Project Details

  • Location  -  Molville, Northern Ireland

  • Sector   -  Education

  • Services - Latchways horizontal lifeline installation, Roof walkway installation, Roof access ladder installation, Eyebolt installation and testing

  • Completed  -  2026

The Challenge

With extensive areas of roof being used for solar panel installation, it was essential to provide safe access across the roof while protecting personnel working at height. The system needed to allow maintenance teams to move safely between different roof sections while complying with current Work at Height Regulations.

Our Solution

Our engineers installed and tested multiple Latchways horizontal lifeline systems across the roof, providing secure anchor points for operatives working in designated areas. To create safe pedestrian routes, roof walkways were installed alongside the lifeline systems, reducing wear on the roof surface while improving safe access to equipment.

The Result

The completed installation provides a safe and compliant rooftop environment for both the solar installation team and future maintenance contractors. With certified Latchways systems, dedicated access walkways and secure roof access in place, the client now benefits from a comprehensive fall protection solution that supports the long-term operation and maintenance of the solar PV installation.
