The Challenge
The building featured a pitched roof, flat roof and varying roof levels, requiring several different safety systems to provide compliant access for maintenance personnel. Safe routes were needed to navigate around roof obstacles, gutters and changes in height while reducing the risk of falls.
Our Solution
Our engineers installed a range of roof safety systems designed to provide safe access across the entire roof. Access stairs were installed to improve movement between roof levels, with a roof walkway fitted around the stair landing to create a secure transition onto the roof surface.
Additional roof walkways were installed to provide designated access routes following the gutter lines, helping to protect both operatives and the roof covering during maintenance. Fixed guardrails were installed over each roof apex to provide permanent edge protection, while a step-over unit was fitted to allow safe access between roof sections. On the flat roof, a freestanding guardrail system was installed to provide collective fall protection without penetrating the roof membrane.
The Result
The completed installation provides safe, compliant access across every area of the roof, allowing maintenance teams to move efficiently between roof sections while reducing the risk of falls. By combining access systems, walkways and permanent guardrails, KSE delivered a complete rooftop safety solution tailored to the building's layout and future maintenance requirements.
